Tom Chabin was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas and moved to Flagstaff to attend and graduate from Northern Arizona University.  Tom and his late wife Delia Fernandez from Douglas, Arizona lived in Tuba City/Moenkopi for over 20 years.

Delia was a teacher for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and received the national Teacher of the Year award for the BIA in 1988.  Delia and Tom were foster parents for six children, active in little league and other community events and organizations.

Tom’s public life includes being elected to the Tuba City Public School Board,  Coconino County Board of Supervisors and the Arizona House of Representatives. 

In addition, he has worked on the Indian Gaming and Prop 207 statewide initiatives.  Tom ran for the Arizona Corporation Commission in 2016.

Tom has lived in Tucson since 2013, has one son and one granddaughter who are his next door neighbors.
